The Science of Beer Institute offers courses for those who want to unravel the
beer universe.
Created by the beer scientist Amanda Reitenbach, the institution is a pioneer at
the preparation of professionals for acting in the beer market with itinerant
courses all over Brazil and Latin America.
Beer, as a national passion, has long stopped being considered just a hobby
and has become a market on the rise. On the third place in the ranking of
highest beer-consuming countries in the world, Brazil shows in beer-related
businesses such affinity and talent with one of the oldest beverages in the
world. We currently have more than 600 craft breweries and about 138
hectoliters produced per year.
It is no surprise that Brazilians are considered great producers and researchers
both domestically and internationally, which shows a growing demand for
professionals who are familiar with the processes and are able to speak about
serving, tasting, evaluating and analyzing beers.
With this in mind, a visionary spirit and a passionate look on the subject, the
scientist Amanda Reitenbach created the Science of Beer Institute in 2010. An
institution that aims at turning a national passion into a career. Graduated in
Food Engineering, she has made her Masters Degree in the development of
probiotic beer and phD at the German university Versuchs-und Lehranstalt für
Brauerei in Berlin with the creation of an electronic “nose” which can identify
volatile compounds in beer, Amanda is a national and international reference
and has a great team of professionals, graduated in the most diverse fields of
research in the beer universe.
With itinerant courses and workshops all over Brazil, the Science of Beer
institute has graduated more than 70 classes in several Brazilian states in its 9
years of existence, conquering almost the entire national territory, advancing for
other Latin American countries after consolidating a partnership with the
Instituto Cervezas de America in 2016. There are still ongoing projects with
Europe and the USA.
“We created Science of Beer with the intention of disseminating deep and
scientific knowledge about this national passion that, consequently, has been
expanding its market and searching for capacitated professionals. In this
context, Science of Beer aims at doing it the best possible way, with an
innovative proposal and professionals with expertise in the beer universe inside
the country and abroad.”, says Amanda.
The institution is a pioneer in Brazil in the courses of Management, Sensorial
Analysis and Evaluation of Beer, Beer Sommelier, Technology in Beer
Processes, Science of Beer Styles, Beer Talk, Yeast Freaks, Hops on Top, Malt
Talk and trips. This last category was released last year is an experience that
involves the most traditional routes in the history of beer. A proposal of a beer
exchange program.
Besides all that, Science of Beer is a member of the World Beer Academy -
Integrated System of Beer Teaching, which aims at taking historical and
practical knowledge in a differentiated way to each student. Each of its classes
has a limited number of students, which provides personalized assistance to the
students in each class. An excellent opportunity for beer enthusiasts who want
to go further.
