Amanda Felipe Reitenbach

Amanda Felipe Reitenbach, is Brazilian and lives in Florianópolis (SC). She is a
Chemical and Food Engineer and, since her graduation, has been dedicated to
the study of beer and its adjacent themes. She has recently obtained her
Doctor’s degree  in UFSC Federal University of Santa Catarina 

where the experimental part of the project was developed at Germany’s Versuchs- und
Lehranstalt für Brauerei in Berlin (VLB) e.V.. The research consisted in the
development of an electronic nose which identifies volatile compounds in beer.
The goal of her Master’s degree was to develop a probiotic beer which brings
countless health benefits. Among her most recent works, she is also
responsible for founding and being the CEO of the Science of Beer Institute,
which focuses at beer education with several courses in different cities, being a
finalist at the “Sinapse de Inovação” contest, with the theme: Probiotic Beer,
Beer Sommelier (SENAC/Doemens Academy). As a sommelière, Amanda
executes several different works in the gastronomic sphere. She is also one of
of the idealizers and coordinator/professor of beer processes at
Uniasselvi/Blumenau, a course that prepares professionals for working in the
beer market.

She is also a jury member at the World Beer Cup, European Beer Star, Copa
Cervezas America (Chile), South Beer Cup (Argentina), Brussels Beer
Challenge, Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival and Taste Experience (Sweden).
Amanda does several projects in partnership with large breweries and at
SENAI’s (Vassouras/RJ) R&D, acting in the development of products and
technologies for beer.
She has been the coordinator of the Brazilian Beer Contest since its first edition
in 2012. At Science of Beer, she is responsible for the Techniques in Beer
Tasting and Sensorial Analysis classes.
